Sturdy Road, Nunhead
£450,000
Offers in excess of £450,000.
Park-facing, spacious and chain free one bedroom ground floor conversion apartment with a great layout, its own front door, and a cute private courtyard garden.
Find your new entertaining-friendly pad within a handsome converted former Victorian pub building. It is an established, architecturally-respectful development which is also home to one of the best neighbourhood restaurants in SE15: Peckham Bazaar.
Sturdy Road is a sweet street of mainly Victorian flat-fronted cottages, which has recently and pleasingly been made a no-through-road, connecting what was once two parks.
Getting around? You are close to three Zone 2 stations: walk just 10 mins to Peckham Rye Station, 11 to Queens Road Peckham Station, and 12 to Nunhead Station. That is most commutes covered!
In through the front door and first on your left is your roomy double bedroom, of over 14 feet by over 9 feet. As throughout, walls are a fresh white.
To the right of the hall is a larger than average windowed bathroom with a roll-top bath, a separate independent shower, and metro-style tiling.
At the foot of the hall you open into the main event: the large open-plan reception which is open-plan to the (fitted) kitchen and has loads of space to zone lounge and dining areas. French doors deliver you to your super sweet courtyard where you can pop your bistro table and chairs and your favourite potted plants. A large storage cupboard (for suitcases, vacuum cleaner, ironing board and suchlike) completes the tour.
You can enjoy the centres of both Peckham and Nunhead easily here, being equidistant from Peckham’s bustling and trendy Rye Lane, and Nunhead’s village-vibe high street (walk approx. five minutes for each).
Central Nunhead has a busy community centre by AOC Architects (community classes etc.) and some excellent independent staples: Ayre’s bakery and Soper’s wet fish shop, for example. Other worthy-of-mentions (we think) include Goodcup coffee shop (which turns into Goodnights), BARD4100, The Pyrotechnists Arms, The Old Nun’s Head, Mother Superior and El Vermut.
The Bussey Building & Copeland Park complex, Peckham Plex and Peckham Levels (atop of which is Frank’s Cafe) are yours to enjoy on Rye Lane. Also close is the ‘triangle’ at the end of Peckham Rye Park and Common's 113 acres; with lots of cool places to eat, drink and hang out. We rate Mr Bao, Banh Banh, The White Horse and 081 Pizzeria to name a handful.
Bellenden Road, Blenheim Grove and Choumert Road provide more food and drink options (we especially like Artusi, The Begging Bowl, Hausu, Levan and Ganapati). Camberwell, New Cross and Deptford are also close for further options.
