Eliot Bank, Forest Hill

In fair Forest Hill where we lay our scene, find this fourth floor south-facing ex-LA apartment with two double bedrooms and the sunniest of balconies/aspects onto communal gardens/grounds, and the tallest of trees (well, at least in SE London!).

Walk just nine minutes to Forest Hill Station - with Overground and regular services. You’re also gloriously close to Horniman (hillside) Gardens and Museum. Parking is unrestricted on-street.

Take the stairs or lift to your own front door. Once in, first find your first bedroom to your right - it’s a good’n, at over 14 feet by nearly 9 feet.

From the hall/lobby, next on your left is your smart bathroom with contemporary white sanitary ware and over-bath shower (plus separate spray attachment).

Head right for bedroom number two - of over 14 feet by over 8 feet, with built-in cupboard.

Next along the hall, you have your independent w.c. to your left, and a useful built-in cupboard to your right.

At the foot of the hall is your roomy reception - of over 15 feet by over 11 feet, with wall to wall double-glazing, including door onto your dazzling south-facer of a balcony. White walls (as throughout) respect the light.

Your independent kitchen - with cool fitted base units and stone counters - is set off the reception, with serving hatch (above a cool column radiator, reception-side). This has an east-facing window over the sink.

Forest Hill has a buzzy and friendly town centre, with a good modern leisure centre, a large Sainsbury’s store, and loads of pleasing independent offerings - including a fab free range butcher (The Butchery) and lots of cafes too - including St David Coffee House. The Sylvan Post is a local quirky real ale place with good food in an old Post Office. Big Cheeks Thai is a top spot, too.

For more options, local towns include Honor Oak (at the end of Devonshire Road, with lovely high street and pizza place in a former Victorian bank), East Dulwich, Sydenham, Brockley and Peckham.

Horniman Gardens and Museum are worth your weekend-time, as is One Tree Hill (fabulous London skyline views up here). You are also close to Sydenham Hill Woods.

Forest Hill Station is close for London-bound trains, and Overgound services to Hoxton, Clapham Junction and Canada Water (for Canary Wharf) among other destinations. There are also plenty of useful bus routes upon the South Circular.
