Barforth Road, Nunhead
£425,000
Bright and delightful one bedroom first (top) floor flat of 535 square feet, within a Victorian semi, without a chain. Share of Freehold.
Find this pleasing pad on a quiet residential Nunhead street, with unrestricted parking.
Walk just 10 minutes to Nunhead Station, and 15 to Peckham Rye Station (both are Fare Zone 2). You’re also close to Nunhead’s high street and central green, and to Peckham Rye Park and Common’s 113 acres - walk but five minutes to each.
In the main front door and locate your own front door at the top of the stairs. To your right, you've got a sash-windowed independent modern kitchen (with timeless Shaker-style units and wooden worktops), and a neat windowed bathroom (metro-style tiling here, plus an over-bath shower). A built-in cupboard sits just by the kitchen entrance. There is additional storage - ideal for suitcases and such - with two access points, on the landing.
From the main landing area, first find your bedroom to your right. It’s over 11 feet each way, with pale carpet, sash window, and built-in alcove closets. The large reception runs the width of the house. It’s over 18 feet by over 11 feet - there’s plenty of space to zone seating and dining areas, and your view is pleasingly leafy. The two sash windows face south-west, so the room gets excellent light throughout the day.
Blissfully-close to central Nunhead, you’ll want for little here. We love staples Ayres bakery, Soper’s wet fish shop, El Vermut and Mother Superior to name a few independent businesses. There’s a handy Co-Op as well.
The Old Nun’s Head is your local friendly neighbourhood pub with event space upstairs. The Angel Oak is also nice - with a big beer garden - at the end of Scylla Road. A little further and you’ll find Peckham Bazaar on Consort Road (amazing Pan-Balkan fayre).
The ‘triangle’ at the head of Rye Lane is also quite the gastronomic destination now. We like Banh Banh, Mr Bao and Feeling Food. The Bussey Building & Copeland Park complex, Market Building, and Peckham Levels are also but a short walk from your door for the trendiest of eateries, drinkeries, exhibitions and the like (including rooftop bars and rooftop cinema in the warm months). Peckham Plex is committed to films for-a-fiver.
Bellenden Road, Choumert Road and Rye Lane provide further options (Artusi, The Begging Bowl, Made of Dough and Ganapati to name a handful). Camberwell, New Cross and Deptford are also close.
Peckham Rye Park and Common and Nunhead Cemetery are close for weekend strolls/outdoor exercise. East Dulwich’s leisure centre is an 12 minute walk for modernised Victorian pool and gym.
