Stirling Road, Stockwell

Enhanced and extended Victorian terrace with four double bedrooms and four bathrooms (two are en suite) that’s delivered over three floors and almost 2000 square feet, inclusive of the cellar. The sympathetically-refurbished house is tastefully decorated and welcome features are at every turn; some of our favourites are the hand-built kitchen, the plantation shutters (to the front windows), the original marble fireplace in the second reception, and the built-in storage both upstairs and down. Find this stonkingly-dishy home between Stockwell and Clapham North tube stations: walk 7 minutes to either. A landscaped, south-west facing garden completes the package. Permit-parking is available on-street for residents. Freehold.

In the traditional Victorian front door and you land in the tall hall. On your right you open into the opened-up, double reception. The front room’s been treated to bespoke fitted storage (both shelves and cupboards) which is especially deep in the alcoves. Stripped and varnished floors are underfoot and roll through into the blue-hued second reception room which has a guest w.c. neatly concealed via sliding door, off to one corner. Part-glazed double doors adjacent to this open into the gorgeous kitchen/diner that’s been deftly extended over the side return area. Skylight windows make the very most of the extension, as do the folding doors at the foot of the large room (it’s over 17 feet by over 16). The fitted kitchen is a painted timber number with wall and base units to two walls, and you also have a generous island with inset Butler sink. The established garden gets loads of sun thanks to its sunny orientation, and is low-maintenance in design. It extends to 36 feet.

Up to the half landing and the first double bedroom of over 15 feet by over 10 is set to the rear of the house. It has a big built-in wardrobe, and next door is a modern, windowed shower room. Up to the landing proper and you’ll find the master bedroom to the front of the house, and spanning the width of it (this room’s over 16 feet by over 16). Alcove and additional built-in cupboards impress - you’ll not want for clothes-space. You also have a large en suite bathroom with white contemporary suite that includes twin sinks, plus an independent shower.

Up the stairs again for double bedroom number three that’s set to the rear (over 10 feet by over 10 feet). Adjacent is (you guessed it!) another bathroom, with simple white suite and window to the side. Ascend again for the fourth bedroom which has windows to the front and rear and skylight ones too. More brilliant built-in storage in this room, and the final shower room is en suite (again, with modern fittings and, as the others, beautifully turned-out).

Stockwell tube is just a 7 minute walk for Victoria and Northern line services. Clapham North is the same distance (Northern). If you’re an Overground bod, trot to Clapham High Street Station in 10 mins. You’re ridiculously well-placed here to take full advantage of south London life. You’re but 15-20 mins by foot to Clapham Common and Kennington Park, or 25-30 mins to Battersea Park (of course the day and night bus offering is also strong here). Brixton is close too (walk 15 mins), with such delights as the 02 Academy, Brixton Village and a Ritzy cinema. Staying closer to home, your local gastro-style pubs include The Phoenix and The Clapham North.
