Ondine Road, Peckham Rye

Optimised Victorian five double bedroom bay-fronted terraced house over three floors, with two bathrooms, a downstairs w.c. plus an independent utility room, and a south-facing garden of circa 70 feet (complete with hot tub and an impressive garden studio). Chain free.

The street is an oft-requested leafy and residential one. You’re winning-at-life-close to a host of excellent schools, and only 11 minutes from Peckham Rye Station, and eight from East Dulwich Station (both Fare Zone 2). You’re also only a few minutes from Bellenden Road, Goose Green and Lordship Lane. Permit-parking is on the street.

A walled front garden sets the house back from the pavement. Once in, note the high ceilings and great scale. Turn right into an oversized reception room - of over 17 feet by over 12 feet. Welcome features here include sash windows to the bay, coving and rose detail, a central fireplace, and stripped and treated floor boards.

Next along from the hall, find a generous coat and buggy/pram cupboard, and a guest loo. Then you open into the huge kitchen/diner - of over 23 feet by over 16 feet; incorporating a slick fitted kitchen of contemporary units topped with stone counters (integrated appliances are high-end), and a large natural dining space before wall-spanning doors out to the garden. Tucked off the corner of the room, find a neat independent utility room.

The large garden enjoys a sunny orientation - be the envy of friends and neighbours! It’s in three zones: a paved section by the house, a large healthy lawn, and a back deck area - where you’ll find the hot tub and an architecturally-treated garden studio (with power and cool bar area including wine fridge).  Church views are the icing on the cake.

From the half-landing you’ve got your first bedroom and main (sash-windowed) bathroom. The bedroom is over 10 feet by over 9 feet, to garden views. The bathroom’s a sleek affair: with roll-top bath, traditional-style basin and taps, and a walk-in independent shower.

From the landing proper, another double bedroom rests to your left (this one’s over 12 feet by nearly 10 feet), and a large twin-sashed master bedroom fronts the house: of 16 feet by over 11 feet, with built-in alcove closets and a cute feature fireplace.

Up the stairs to the second floor - for another bedroom and modern (skylit) bathroom, and the fifth and final bedroom - a whopper at over 14 feet each way (built-in storage plus accessible eaves storage available here), with folding doors to a covered south-facing balcony (more churchy views - nice!). And if you're looking for unrestricted views of the city skyline, maximum sunshine, and to add value, the house was given consent for a huge roof terrace across its entire south-facing rear section (19/AP/0727).

Your local primaries include St John’s & St Clements, Bellenden, The Belham (run by Dulwich Hamlet Educational Trust) and Goose Green. The Villa Nursery and Pre-Prep. School for little ones (2-7) is also close by and very popular. Little Jungle Nursery is also well-liked. For bigger ones, The Charter School East Dulwich is a short walk. Independent Dulwich schools are also a short drive or cycle.

Bellenden Road is nearby for restaurants, cafes and shops. We love Artusi, The Begging Bowl, Ganapati (which also has a takeaway outlet on Maxted Road), The Sourcing Table and Made Of Dough.

There are lots of popular pubs in the area - check out The Gowlett (the pizzas here are great), The Montpelier, The Victoria Inn, The White Horse and The EDT.

Rye Lane and Blenheim Grove are also close for more options, including Levan, The Coal Rooms, Miss Tapas, Il Giardino, Tonkotsu, Peckham Levels, and The Bussey Building & Copeland Park.

Also locally, East Dulwich Road has a bank of cute shops including a Hop Burns & Black, a good chippy and an ice-cream parlour.

For more options, you’ve got Lordship Lane close by (great for independent grocery shopping as well as an M&S Food Hall and a Co-Op), and we really like the foodie North Cross Road Saturday market. East Dulwich leisure centre, including pool, is also a short walk away, on Crystal Palace Road.

Green spaces nearby include Goose Green and Peckham Rye Park and Common’s 113 acres.
