Oglander Road, Peckham Rye

Best and final offers invited by 2pm, Monday 20th March.

Fab five bed extended Victorian semi-detached house of 1975 square feet, with side access. It's delivered over three floors, with one bath and two shower rooms, a downstairs lavatory, and a mature garden stretching over 80 feet. Chain free.

The street is an oft-requested leafy and residential one with permit-parking. You’re winning-at-life-close to a host of excellent schools, and only nine minutes from Peckham Rye Station, and eight from East Dulwich Station (both are Fare Zone 2). You’re also only a few minutes from Bellenden Road, Goose Green and Lordship Lane.

A neat hedged front garden sets you back from the street. From the welcoming hall, formal reception rooms rest to your right. The front room is over 14 feet by over 12 feet, with custom-made shutters to the bay window, central (working fireplace), and double doors to the second reception.

The second reception is over 11 feet by over 10 feet, with another attractive fireplace and a brilliant serving hatch. Access the huge rear room from here or from the hall (the w.c. is in under stairs position).

What a room! Having been extended over the wide former side-return space (we love the glazing detail here), you have loads of space for kitchen, dining, and general entertaining. Underfloor heating keeps toes toasty. The big bay window provides delightful verdant vistas, and is the natural spot for casual through to formal dining. Homework or home-working would also work well here. The whole space enjoys engineered oak flooring. The fitted kitchen is a timeless Shaker-style one, with a generous L-shaped island and stone counters. Nip down to the large cellar for a plumbed utility area and larder storage.

Up to the first floor and you’ve got a big double bedroom and smart (windowed) bathroom with underfloor heating. The main landing yields another double bedroom, and a huge master across the front (built-in alcove wardrobes and custom-made shutters impressing here). All the bedrooms have soft pale carpets.

The second floor awaits and, as you’ve come to expect, a high standard and impressive attention to detail continues. You’ve got a big double bedroom (with regular window and skylight ones too) with slick shower room next door, and a massive master suite - with Juliet balcony, skylights, loads of accessible eaves storage, and a cute (skylit) shower room.

Finally - worth a mention - the large garden shed has multiple power points, Velux windows and a solid floor, making it an ideal artist’s studio, play room, rehearsal space or home office.

Your local primaries include St John’s & St Clements, Bellenden, The Belham (run by Dulwich Hamlet Educational Trust) and Goose Green. The Villa Nursery and Pre-Prep. School for little ones (2-7) is also close by and very popular. Little Jungle Nursery is also well-liked. For secondary-age kids, The Charter School East Dulwich is a short walk. The independent Dulwich schools are also a short drive or cycle.

Bellenden Road is nearby for restaurants, cafes and shops etc. We love Artusi, The Begging Bowl, The Sourcing Table, Ganapati (which also has a top takeaway outlet on Maxted Road), The Sourcing Table and Made Of Dough.

There are lots of popular pubs in the area - check out The Gowlett (the pizzas here are popular), The Montpelier, The Victoria Inn, The White Horse and The EDT.

Rye Lane and Blenheim Grove are also close for more options, including Levan, The Coal Rooms, Miss Tapas, Il Giardino, Tonkotsu, Peckham Levels, and The Bussey Building & Copeland Park.

For more options, you’ve got Lordship Lane close by (great for independent grocery shopping as well as an M&S Food Hall and a Co-Op), and we really rate the foodie North Cross Road Saturday market. East Dulwich leisure centre, including pool, is also a short walk away, on Crystal Palace Road.

Green spaces nearby include Goose Green and Peckham Rye Park and Common’s 113 acres.
