Lewisham Way, New Cross

Neat, bright, chain-free second (top) floor one double bed conversion flat of 454 square feet, with a long lease, and which is set within a tall Victorian townhouse of just four apartments.

It’s a top little starter pad for a single or couple, and very much a blank canvas - having been rented out until recently. We love the large sash windows and surprisingly leafy vistas, and the huge communal garden (accessed from a shared back door on the hall floor).

Your closest stations are New Cross Gate and New Cross (Fare Zone 2, with regular and Overground services) - both are at your feet in eight minutes. Brockley, St John’s and Deptford DLR stations are all close too (under 15 minutes by foot for all). Lewisham Way’s a good location for bus travel as well.

In the main front door and it’s up the stairs to your own front door. The hall is fairly generous, and first up ahead is a simple bathroom with basin, bath, heated towel rail and lovely big window.

To your immediate right of the front door is the bedroom - of over 13 feet by over 10. It’s a notably quiet room as you’re set to the back of the house and you have a closet to one alcove. The property’s w.c. is accessed from this room and has its own window.

Adjacent you’ll find the reception room and kitchen. This room’s over 13 feet each way and has a run of white fitted units to one wall, with integrated oven and hob, and white square wall tiles.

Central New Cross has a Curzon cinema and beautiful contemporary art gallery within the Goldsmiths campus (both open to the public), plus a great variety of good pubs. We rate The Amersham Arms opposite NX Station, and The Fat Walrus particularly highly. Meze Mangal (further down Lewisham Way) serves up good value Turkish grub.

Your neighbouring postcodes are SE4, SE8, SE13 and SE15 - you can enjoy them all easily. Of the weekend, Brockley Market (a super foodie one which runs on Saturdays 10am-2pm) is a short walk away. Towards Lewisham, Middleton coffee shop is a good tip for fantastic coffee, pastries and brunches, and check out Chicha (serving vibrant Peruvian street food) and Le Terre 5 (offering fresh homemade pasta and sauces) too.

Central Lewisham’s handy for mall shopping and markets, plus Sparrow restaurant and The Model Market (street food heaven).

SE8’s Deptford High Street area - including Deptford Market Yard - is searingly-cool with bars, night spots, cafes, restaurants and breweries. We particularly rate Marcella, The Tapas Room, Isla Ray’s, Stockton and Villages.

Peckham’s but a short bus ride or cycle for trendy spots such as Peckham Levels and The Bussey Building, plus top restaurants and cocktail places both in the Bellenden Road area (Artusi, Ganapati, The Begging Bowl and Levan are all winners) and the area around Queens Road Peckham Station (here Kudu, Smokey Kudu and Peckham Cellars are causing quite the stir).

Brockley has nice independent restaurants such as The Orchard and Parlez, and cool places for drinks as well: Brickfields, The Brockley Brewery and Joyce.
