Kenbury Mansions, Kenbury Street, Camberwell

Architect-owned and enhanced purpose-built period apartment with two large double bedrooms, excellent built-in storage throughout, and a private SW-facing balcony (direct access).

The location is a cool Camberwell street, with Brixton (and its tube station) close by as well. Walk just eight minutes to Loughborough Junction Station, or 10 to Denmark Hill Station. Both are Zone 2. Your closest big road is Coldharbour Lane which connects (SE) Camberwell with (SW) Brixton, and is super for your London-bound buses.

Note beautiful original ceramic tiling in your communal hall. Take stairs up to your own front door, on the second floor. High ceilings impress from the off. Take a left for the principal bedroom, set to the front of the house. This is over 15 feet by over 14 feet, with a bank of (to-the-ceiling) bespoke built-in closets.

Your second bedroom is next door, of over 14 feet by nearly 11 feet, with more fab fitted storage for clothes/linen etc.

Moving through the hall, next on your left is the sash-windowed bathroom, with metro-style tiling, and classy glass shelves for your bathroom bits. A smart and modern white suite plus contemporary stainless steel fittings (including an oversized over-bath shower head) also impress.

There is a useful cleaning/tool cupboard opposite the bathroom. Next to which is the door to your multi-aspect and open-plan living area, where you will enjoy entertaining (/feeling smug just you in such a setup!). An inspired layout alteration from the flat's original footprint; this delivers generous seating, dining and kitchen spaces, as well as treats which include pre-cast concrete countertops and a custom-made built-in storage unit of open shelves and cupboards. A part-glazed door opens to your long and sunny balcony.

Central Camberwell has a brilliant offering of places to eat and drink for all budgets, alongside useful shops, banks and supermarkets. Some of our favourite eateries and drinkeries are The Camberwell Arms, The Sun, The Bear, The Kerfield, Silk Road and Theo’s. Gladwell’s is gorgeous for luxury groceries (it even has a Turner & George meat counter). For wine shopping, check out Veraison Wines and Little Cellars. For coffee, you’ll find cafe culture is strong.

In the opposite direction - headed for Brixton, we like Mamma Dough and Nanban (Brixton Village/Japanese fusion) on Coldharbour Lane, and Three Eight Four - for delicious cocktails and small plates to name but a few spots.

Central Brixton is of course home to established greats: The Brixton Academy and The Ritzy Cinema. And Brixton Village serves up the best street food you could think of and more.

Ruskin and Myatt’s Fields Parks are your local Victorian parks: both have bandstands and community events galore, and Brockwell Park with its popular lido is an easy bus ride or cycle. Camberwell Green hosts a Saturday Farmers’ Market 10am-2pm.

Keeping fit is easy round this way with Camberwell leisure centre on Artichoke Place a short stroll away, plus plenty of boutique yoga studios and private gyms.
