East Dulwich Road, Peckham Rye
One-off apartment in iconic former Peckham nightclub building. The large apartment with its own front door is set over ground and basement levels. Walk 10 minutes to Peckham Rye Station, or 15 to East Dulwich Station (both Zone 2). Share of Freehold.
From the hall the bathroom sits to your left and this is a simple modern number with over bath shower and smart brick-style tiling. To your right is a double bedroom over 9 feet each way. Ahead from the hall and you open into the main event: a vast open-plan reception/kitchen/dining room that’s over 33 feet at its longest point, and over 17 feet wide. The kitchen units are simple and white and contrasting solid wood counters are a welcome decision. Double-glazed French and sliding doors open onto the private courtyard garden which extends 14 feet, faces east, and is perfect for a barbie.
Take stairs from the reception down to the basement level (windowless) which delivers a second bathroom (this time a modern shower room), fitted wardrobes, and space for a double bed. It’s a quirky big bonus space to the one bed flat offering at ground floor level. The basement level also benefits from being cool in the summer and warm in the winter.
Rye Lane, Bellenden Road and Lordship Lane are all close by for social and shopping options. Local pubs include The Rye, The Gowlett and The White Horse. You can go rooftop for drinks at Franks, or atop the Bussey Building of the summer months. SE15 restaurants have locals and visitors drooling. A few of these are Mr Bao, Miss Tapas, Pedler, Banh Banh, Peckham Bazaar and Artusi.
Cafe culture is thriving too with plenty of choices locally. East Dulwich Leisure Centre is (no excuses!) close for classes, swim and gym. Other private gyms are local, as are a range of private classes including South London Tango at Dulwich Constitutional Hall, and yoga at The Goose Green Centre.
Lordship Lane is great of a weekend or evening: recommendations are North Cross Road’s Saturday market, East Dulwich Picture House, EDT, Franklin’s and Franco Manca to name a handful. LL’s M&S Food Hall is proving a hit but for more independent grocery shopping, check out William Rose butchery, Franklin’s Farm Shop, The Cheese Block, Mons Cheesemongers, Moxon’s and SMBS.
