The two rooms are 14 by 11 feet, and 12 by 11 feet respectively, and the second reception leads on to a sunny conservatory. On the way down to the lower ground floor you’ll find the first bedroom, which would make an equally good study or hobby room. It’s a small double (10 feet by nearly 9) and has a window onto the gorgeous garden. The lower ground floor has a small bathroom with white suite and colourful décor. The kitchen diner is 22 by 12 feet, with terracotta tiles throughout and beyond into the neat utility room. A back door opens from here to the secluded garden with mature trees which is zoned with lawned, paved, wild and Japanese areas. It has a choice of al-fresco dining spots and is also home to a sturdy insulated summerhouse (with power). A great venue throughout for summer parties.
Up to the first floor and you have two large (interconnecting) bedrooms. The two-windowed master bedroom is over 18 feet by over 11 - so large that you could create an en suite to one end of the room if you so desired. The adjacent bedroom is over 12 feet by over 11, and the sash window looks onto the garden. Wide painted original floorboards feature in both rooms. It’s up to the second floor for bedrooms four and five. The stairwell and landings are beautifully lit by south facing windows and green vistas. These bedrooms up here are large at over 12 by 11 feet apiece, both with original fireplaces. A stylish modern bathroom with both bath and shower sits to the front of the building. The front bedroom has access to a loft space with generous storage.
The closest stations are Denmark Hill and Loughborough Junction. Brixton tube is easily reached with a short bus ride. Central Camberwell has a strong offering of places to eat and drink for all budgets, alongside useful shops, banks and a Morrison’s supermarket. Some of our favourite restaurants are The Camberwell Arms, Silk Road, The Crooked Well and Theo’s. Cafe culture is strong too. Try Love Walk Cafe and The Pigeon Hole. In the opposite direction, headed for Brixton, it’s only a five minute walk to the popular live jazz venue at the Junction. Further along, Mamma Dough and Nanban (Brixton Village/Japanese fusion) on Coldharbour Lane itself come highly recommended. Central Brixton is home to established greats: The Brixton Academy and The Ritzy Cinema.
Ruskin and Myatt’s Fields Parks are your local Victorian parks, both have bandstands and community events galore, and Brockwell Park with popular lido is an easy bus ride or cycle. Camberwell Green hosts a Saturday Farmers’ Market 10am-2pm. Keeping fit is easy round this way with Camberwell leisure centre on Artichoke Place a short stroll away, plus Zen Yoga Studio and Butterfly Tennis Club at the foot of Camberwell Grove. Local schools include Lyndhurst and Crawford primaries.
