Camberwell Passage, Camberwell
Be just the second resident/s of this huge and high (yep, it’s the penthouse) apartment in, we think, the best position of the building - enjoy epic views from the property’s generous amount of glazing and its large private balcony.
The fifth floor flat’s a phenomenal 977 square feet in size, with three double bedrooms and two bathrooms, plus an enormous double-aspect reception room/dining room/kitchen. The building is served by a lift as well as stairs, and the development boasts a huge communal roof terrace for residents. Long leasehold.
The location is cool central Camberwell - near Camberwell Green and new library, and within walking distance of Oval tube and Denmark Hill Station. Camberwell’s leisure Centre with its Victorian swimming pool is also local, on Artichoke Place.
The communal halls of the building are immaculately-kept. Take the lift or stairs to the fifth floor and your own front door. On entry there’s a generous cubby ahead for coats and shoes.
Turn right for the central hall and two double bedrooms lie to your left (these are over 11 feet by 9 feet apiece) - both with built-in closets to their near walls.
To your right of the hall you have the main bathroom with contemporary white sanitary ware, concealed plumbing, over bath shower and heated towel radiator in stainless steel. A huge built-in storage cupboard is set next to the bathroom door. Another box ticked!
Next to your right is the generous master bedroom with built-in triple closet, and both window and glazed door to a Juliet balcony. The slick ensuite shower room with walk-in shower is fitted out in a contemporary style as the main bathroom.
At the end of the hall you land in the apartment’s main, impressive, oak-floored room which stretches over 21 feet, and which incorporates kitchen, seating and dining areas. The views impress even before you open out onto the balcony; it’s quite the event whether day or evening - with far-reaching views north, east and south. You really can watch the world go by up here in the sky!
Camberwell Green is your most local green space and has had a recent revamp. It has a good Farmers' Market every Sunday from 9am to 1pm. Myatt's Fields Park also has one (a lovely Victorian 14 acre complete with bandstand). Brunswick, Ruskin, Burgess and Kennington Parks are also walkable.
Camberwell has a good and improving early evening scene with a growing mix of pubs, cafes, bars and restaurants for all tastes and budgets. A handful of our favourites are Good Neighbour, The Crooked Well, Silk Road, Nandine, The Hermits Cave and The Camberwell Arms (where the food is tough to beat).
Whirled Cinema up by Loughborough Junction (in one of the railway arches) station is worth a mention, as is The South London Gallery on Peckham Road.
You're also within easy reach of Brixton, Herne Hill, Dulwich and Peckham too for more options, including Peckham Levels, The Bussey Building and Peckham Plex Cinema (films for a mere fiver).
