Burton Road, Camberwell

Wonderfully-bright and high-ceilinged one bed third (top) floor conversion flat of 458 square feet, within a big Victorian semi-detached house. There’s a large communal garden to the rear - which you share with the three other flats (access this from the gate to the right hand side of the building).

Find it on a quiet residential street in Lambeth’s Minet Conservation Area. Myatt’s Fields (Victorian and 14-acre) Park is moments from the door, and your closest stations are Loughborough Junction (10 minutes by foot) and Stockwell, Oval and Denmark Hill (all within 20 minutes).

The main front door is up a few steps from the pavement. Take the stairs to your own front door at the top of the stairs. The bedroom’s set to the rear of the building, with stripped floorboards and a big sash window onto garden views. White walls feature here - as throughout.

The main room is a huge reception space with fitted kitchen (timeless kitchen units here, paired with wooden worktops) which is open-plan to the dining area. Built-in alcove storage and three sash windows, plus stripped floorboards are all winning features.

The shower room’s the final stop on the tour - it’s a sash-windowed one with modern basin and w.c. and brick-style tiling.

What’s local? Myatt’s Fields Park is your closest green space; a gorgeous, listed Victorian-era park with lots of open space, fine bedding displays, tennis courts and a bandstand. The park underwent an impressive £3m renovation which was completed in 2010. It’s a great community resource and is one of Lambeth’s nine Green Flag Award-winning parks.

Camberwell is firmly on the map for fine places to eat. We love Theo's for stonebaked pizza, The Hill bakery on Grove Lane, plus The Camberwell Arms, Silk Road and Good Neighbour (all on Camberwell Church Street). The Sun pub is a nice local on Coldharbour Lane.

Heading towards (and into) Brixton you have great options too. We like Mamma Dough, Three Eight Four (for cocktails and small plates) and Banh Banh. And of course Brixton Village for its many and varied eateries.

Camberwell Leisure Centre has a recently-revamped Victorian pool and gym facilities, and a huge range of classes for adults and kids alike.

For cricket lovers, The Oval is a 20 minute walk, and opposite Oval Station is a delightful weekly Farmers’ Market. There’s also a weekly Farmers’ Market on nearby Camberwell Green (both held on Saturdays). More locally, Myatt’s Field has its own market as well - on Sundays.

Getting around? Grab a bus to the City, West End or Whitehall from Brixton Road; or to Victoria, Hyde Park and Paddington from Camberwell New Road. Or trot to Stockwell, Oval or Brixton for the tube (Victoria and Northern lines), or Loughborough Junction or Denmark Hill stations.
