Algernon Road, Ladywell
£750,000
Victorian bay-fronted terraced Freehold house of 1037 square feet (excluding the large loft and handy cellar), with two double bedrooms and a low-maintenance south-east facing garden which extends over 45 feet.
Ripe for extension and renovation; the house has been carefully looked after within the same family for several decades! It’s now ready for its new owners and next chapter.
Find the house on a popular residential street set between Lewisham and Ladywell stations (walk seven and 10 minutes to these respectively). Lewisham’s on the DLR for Bank/Canary Wharf etc. St Johns Station is yours in nine minutes, too.
You’re also close to both Hilly and Ladywell Fields, and to Ladywell’s village-style high street, plus Prendergast Vale School, and Glass Mill Leisure Centre.
A walled garden sets you back from the street. In the front door and turn right for a formal double-reception. The front room’s 12 feet by nearly 14 feet. The second reception is over 11 feet by over 10 feet. A double-glazed door opens from the second reception to the side-return area of the garden.
At the end of the hall you’ve got cellar access to your left, then the kitchen is directly ahead. This is a galley-style. Beyond, a neat dining room is set before the generous garden.
Up the stairs and you’ll first find a large full bathroom - with a three-piece pastel blue suite and an independent shower.
From the main landing you’ve got a double bedroom to your left - it’s over 11 feet by over 10 feet. And across the front of the house you’ve got the large master bedroom - of over 15 feet by over 11 feet. Access the sizeable loft space from the landing.
Ladywell Road is your closest high street area - with successful little independent businesses such as The Larder Deli and Meat Jon.
Mamma Dough is great for pizzas, and The Ladywell Tavern is a strong local. Other local recommendations within a short walk are Chicha (vibrant Peruvian street food) and Le 5 Terre - offering fresh homemade pasta and sauces - both on Loampit Hill, and Sparrow, near Lewisham Station.
The Talbot pub is also a good local (with a good menu under new management) - at the foot of Tyrwhitt Road. Brockley Market in the Lewisham College car park (smarter than it sounds!) is a must-visit of a Saturday.
Central Lewisham is handy for market, high street and charity shopping, and (we think) the best chippy in London: Something Fishy!
Hilly Fields and Ladywell Fields are both but around half a mile from the door, or grab a short bus ride to Greenwich Royal Park and Blackheath’s even bigger open spaces.
